T. John "Johnny" Ward Jr.

Many lawyers talk about their ability to try cases, but few can match the results obtained by Johnny Ward. He has "first chair" (the attorney with ultimate responsibility at trial) trial experience in over 30 jury trials, covering a variety of challenging cases. Cases he has tried to verdict include, but are not limited to, car wrecks, eighteen wheeler accidents, wrongful death and survival claims, premises liability, medical malpractice, consumer disputes, first-party insurance claims, will contests, civil rights violations, and patent infringement actions.
Not only has he tried a wide variety of cases, he has done so with success. He obtained his first verdict in excess of a million dollars at the age of 34. In that premises liability case the defendant's insurer offered just $10,000 to settle the case. Mr. Ward turned the offer down, took the case to trial, and the jury awarded his client $1,010,000. In the years that followed, Mr. Ward obtained several multi-million dollar verdicts, including a $133,000,000 verdict in a patent infringement case against Microsoft. In that case, Mr. Ward selected the jury, directed and cross-examined damage experts, and assisted lawyers with the law firm of Brooks Kushman, P.C. from Detroit, MI in achieving a successful result for the client. Since that time, he has developed a national reputation in high stakes litigation, and he has continued assisting lawyers from around the country in trying complex cases before East Texas juries.
Mr. Ward was recently appointed as special prosecutor in Cass County, Texas where he has been tasked with assisting the district attorney in trying a murder case. Mr. Ward was retained by the victim's family, took the case to trial before a civil jury, obtained a finding from the jury that the defendant had indeed caused the death of his wife, and the jury returned a verdict in excess of $13,000,000. The former district attorney refused to indict the alleged murderer. The former district attorney subsequently was voted out of office, the defendant was indicted for murder by the grand jury, and trial resulted in a guilty verdict in the spring of 2010.
