Bruce A. Smith was born and raised in Longview, Texas. Mr. Smith attended Southern Methodist University, receiving his B.B.A. degree (cum laude) in 1983. Following graduation, Mr. Smith attended Baylor University where he completed his law degree in 1986.

Mr. Smith returned to Longview where he began his legal career with the Harbour law firm. He practiced in the areas of personal injury litigation, commercial litigation and general civil litigation. In 1992, Mr. Smith became Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He consistently has maintained an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Smith is an experienced trial lawyer in both state and federal court, having tried more than 40 cases to verdict during his 20 years of practice. Mr. Smith is admitted to practice in Texas state courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Federal Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas as well as the United States Claims Court. In addition, Mr. Smith has been selected by his peers as a Texas “Super Lawyer” for 2008.

Mr. Smith joined T. John Ward, Jr. in 2006 where he has continued his practice of representing individuals and companies with their litigation needs.
